Former national coach Joachim Löw does not rule out the possibility that Mario Götze will make his return to the national team of Germany. The thirty-year-old midfielder made a transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, which means that the chance of an election for the World Cup in Qatar is possible, according to Löw.

“He has all the qualities for it,” Löw said Sky Sports, when asked if Götze is a candidate for national coach Hansi Flick’s World Cup squad. “Mario is going to play in the Champions League again and is back on the radar in the Bundesliga and wants to be in the spotlight.”

Götze’s return to the Bundesliga and the move to Eintracht Frankfurt also came as a surprise to Löw. “Of course I didn’t expect Mario to return to Germany, not at this time. But I’m very happy for him and Frankfrurt. Mario is an exceptional player, very professional and with his enormous game intelligence he fits very well with Eintracht”, Löw praises his former pupil.

Götze played his last international match for Germany on November 14, 2017 against Frankfurt. The midfielder scored his most important goal of his career in the 2014 World Cup final when he the Mannschaft and former national coach Löw delivered the world title by scoring the winning goal against Argentina (1-0) in extra time.
