Zlatan Ibrahimovic is known for his remarkable and somewhat arrogant statements to his critics. The 41-year-old AC Milan striker is still recovering from a serious knee injury, but nevertheless manages to make the headlines again. The Swede is disdainful about French football.

“Everything has collapsed since I left France,” says Ibrahimovic in front of the camera of CANAL+. “There are no more interesting topics to talk about. France needs me, but I don’t need France. Look, you have Mbappe, Neymar and Messi, but that’s not enough. Because you don’t have God.”

Ibrahimovic played four seasons for Paris Saint-Germain between 2012 and 2016, scoring 156 goals in 180 official games. With this number of goals, he is the third all-time top scorer of the French superpower behind Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappé. In Paris, Ibrahimovic was able to add twelve prizes to his palmares. He has won the Ligue 1 four times in a row.

AC Milan announced last summer that the Swede has extended his contract until mid-2023. Milan became champion in Italy last season, but the input of Ibracadabra wasn’t huge. The striker eventually made 23 games in Serie A, of which he was in the starting line-up. Zlatan scored a total of eight goals and had to watch mainly in the final phase of the season due to injuries. Ibrahimovic will most likely not be doing actual minutes in 2022. He is recovering from knee surgery and will not be available again until January.

Ibrahimovic started his career in the youth of Malmö FF. He first played for AC Milan in 2010 via Ajax, Juventus, Internazionale and Barcelona. The forward has played a total of 159 games for the current Serie A champions, scoring 92 goals over two periods. In total, the top striker scored 492 times in his entire career. In his international career with Sweden, he scored 62 goals in 121 matches. Last year, the contract with the attacker was also extended by one year.
