Southampton are on the verge of signing Armando Broja from Chelsea permanently. The Saints are going to make an offer of thirty million euros for the striker, which should make Broja the most expensive purchase in club history. The attacker is currently on loan from Chelsea for a year, but if it is up to Southampton, that collaboration will be extended. Danny Ings is currently Southampton’s most expensive purchase ever (25 million).

Broja is having a strong season at Southampton. The striker has scored five goals in eighteen games in the Premier League so far. Ten times he started in the base, eight times he was brought in. He made four Premier League appearances for Chelsea in the 2019/20 season. Broja played with the Blues his matches are mainly in the U23 team. Last season, the attacker was loaned to Vitesse, where he scored 10 goals in 30 Eredivisie games. It earned him a rental period at Southampton, the club that now wants to take him over permanently.

Thomas Tuchel, who already has an undisputed number one for the striker position with Romelu Lukaku, seemed not to want to part with Broja for a long time. At the beginning of January, the German spoke about the situation of his pupil. “Armando keeps getting better,” said Tuchel. “He is a very unique player with unique strengths in his game. He has speed, is robust and he is a real finisher. Now is not the time to discuss summer transfers. It is important that he remains calm and continues to improve himself .”

Micah Richards also praised the former Vitesse striker. “He is fearless,” said the former player before the game between Southampton and Manchester City (1-1) last Saturday. “I’m really impressed with him. You often see that players who are hired are not immediately there. That is not the case with him. He got his chance and grabbed it immediately. Every time I see him play, I am impressed.”
