Feyenoord announced the arrival of Uros Spajic on Tuesday, but the 27-year-old is not yet allowed to take action. According to The Telegraph it’s gonna take at least another eight to ten days to complete the paperwork. The centre defender hired from Krasnodar will therefore be absent from next weekend’s selection for the first home game of the season against FC Twente.

The paperwork involved in the rental agreement and the release of the Serbian manservant takes a lot of time. According to the newspaper Spajic doesn’t worry too much about his fitness. Because of the corona crisis many football players missed months of game rhythm and his situation is not much different because of a later return to the fields. “I’m one hundred percent fit and I feel really good,” the defender said when he came to Rotterdam. He’s expected to be available next Sunday when Feyenoord receive a visit from ADO Den Haag.

For the time being Spajic keeps his fitness on track by means of individual training sessions and joins the group of trainer Dick Advocaat as soon as possible. This is expected to happen in the course of next week. Spajic, who could be rented out because Krasnodar of the Russian Federation is not allowed to have more than eight foreigners under contract, didn’t want to say much about his way of playing. “I’m just saying I don’t shy away from the physical in the duels. I want to play soon and then I can show it.”
