Feyenoord and Mark Diemers will part ways this summer when an interested club puts a market-based transfer fee on the table. According to Football International the midfielder does not have to count on much playing time this season under trainer Arne Slot and technical director Frank Arnesen will therefore not lie down for a summer transfer.

Feyenoord can use a transfer fee for Diemers, plus the salary that the club management saves, in the search for a new striker. The midfielder, who turns 28 in October, made the switch from Fortuna Sittard to Feyenoord a year ago, even though the Limburgers had an agreement with FC Groningen at an earlier stage. Diemers, however, really wanted to make a transfer to Feyenoord and that’s how it happened.

Diemers played 38 matches in all competitions last season. The midfielder appeared at the starting signal in 23 of his 30 Eredivisie appearances, played two matches in the TOTO KNVB Cup and was in the starting lineup in each of the six Europa League matches. He had three goals and four assists.

Feyenoord paid a transfer fee of approximately one million euros for Diemers and will want to recoup as much of this investment as possible. According to the weekly, there is already tentative interest from clubs from England, Germany and Switzerland.
