Arsenal officially released the away shirt for the 2021/22 season on Friday morning. It is a light yellow shirt that appears on the website of the Gunners is shown by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Vivianne Miedema, among others. The new away kit is an ode to the Arsenal team that managed to conquer the double in 1971. On the jersey, instead of the logo, a cannon is visible, as was the custom in the past at the North London club. The reactions go from very positive to very negative.

“Inspired by the past, ready for the future”, is how Arsenal describe the new shirt on the website. In the final league game against Crystal Palace on May 19, the players will wear the jersey for the first time. Incidentally, it is not uncommon for Arsenal to opt for a yellow away shirt. For example, in the 2003/04 season, when they became the unbeaten champion of England, this was also the case. It is a big difference with the current white away shirt. The Arsenal third shirt currently has a dark blue color.

Reactions to Arsenal’s choice to return to a yellow away shirt are diverse. Many people think the color is beautiful and praise the club for paying attention to the successful team of fifty years ago. On the other hand, many Arsenal fans refuse to purchase the new shirt due to the presence of Stan Kroenke. The wealthy American owner has a bad image among the supporters, which was recently reflected when Arsenal signed up for the Super League. In addition, many supporters think that Kroenke shows far too little ambition. With the current ninth place, the team of manager Mikel Arteta is far from the top teams in the Premier League. “Only when the owners start investing do we buy merchandise from the club again,” writes a disappointed fan on Twitter.
