Daley Blind has been nominated by UEFA for the honorary title of Player of the Week in the Champions League. The Ajax defender was already named Man of the Match because of his performance against Borussia Dortmund (4-0 win). With Alisson Becker (Liverpool), Noah Okafor (Red Bull Salzburg) and Sebastián Coates (Sporting Portugal), Blind has three competitors.
Ajax made a big impression against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. Blind scored the 2-0 with a shot from the edge of the penalty area and provided the assist to Sébastien Haller’s 4-0. His goal undoubtedly played a role in UEFA’s choice, but according to Blind was not the only reason. “Obviously it’s not that easy. I think I played a good game, but I wasn’t the only one.
