It remains to be seen whether Borussia Dortmund can have first goalkeeper Gregor Kobel in the return in the Champions League against Ajax. The goalie was injured in the away game against Arminia Bielefeld (1-3) on Saturday afternoon after coming into hard contact with the post. The absence of Kobel would be a big loss for Dortmund, as trainer Marco Rose also does not have Erling Braut Haaland.

The concerns about Kobel’s injury are great at Dortmund, as it turns out the day after the 1-3 win over Bielefeld. The closing post was injured when his thigh collided with the right post. Kobel initially seemed to be able to continue the game after a short medical treatment, but was left behind in the locker room at halftime. Rose then brought in reserve goalkeeper Marwin Hitz at the start of the second half. “I hope he doesn’t have the same characteristics as Haaland,” Rose expressed his concerns after the game sky.

Kobel himself gave up after the game Ruhr Nachrichten that it seemed to work. Tuesday’s match in the battle for the DFB-Pokal against FC Ingolstadt 04 seems to come too early for Kobel anyway, but there is also all uncertainty about playing in the return in the Champions League against Ajax. Roman Bürki or Luca Unbehaun are expected to take the bench against Ingolstadt as reserve goalkeeper behind Hitz. Earlier this week it became clear that Haaland will not make it to the duel with Ajax either.
