Wytse van der Goot is disappointed by a mistake he made in his commentary during the semi-final of the Champions League between Chelsea and Real Madrid (2-0). The reporter from SBS 6 said that the final of the tournament will be played in Istanbul, which he says is the capital of Turkey. After the match, Van der Goot found out that Ankara is the country’s capital.

The commentator shows self-mockery on Twitter and punishes himself. “Ankara is the capital of Turkey, Ankara is the capital of Turkey, Ankara is the capital of Turkey,” writes Van der Goot. To his horror, the reporter is pointed out in the comments that he made a spelling mistake in that tweet. Van der Goot also jokes about other cities that are often mistaken as capital: “Canberra, Ottawa, Brasilia and Bern are also sorry.”
