Peter Bosz threatens to lose Bruno Guimarães in the closing days of the winter transfer market. L’Equipe and Fabrizio Romano announce a formal offer of €40 million for the Olympique Lyon midfielder and the Brazil national team. According to the transfer market expert, the 24-year-old Brazilian will make the decision in the coming hours, in consultation with his management.

Both Romano and L’Equipe emphasizes that Guimarães had initially set his sights on a summer transfer. After all, the defensive midfielder has been interested in Arsenal and Juventus for some time now. Olympique Lyon, which is eleventh in Ligue 1, is also deliberating and weighing the proposal from England, as Guimarães is an important force for Bosz. The fact is that two years ago he was taken over for half, twenty million euros, from Athletico Paranaense from his homeland. The Brazilian club negotiated a resale percentage of twenty percent.

Newcastle United, suddenly wealthy due to the Saudi takeover, has made Guimarães an attractive financial proposal. L’Equipe writes that he can earn an amount of 440,000 euros per month in Northeast England. That is double what the midfielder, good for 71 duels for les gones in all competitions, takes off in Lyon.

For Newcastle United, Guimares would be the third reinforcement in this transfer window. Defender Kieran Trippier was bought from Atlético Madrid for fifteen million euros and striker Chris Wood was bought from Burnley for thirty million euros.
