Myron Boadu scored his first goal for AS Monaco on Thursday evening against PSV. On a visit to Eindhoven, the striker of the Ligue 1 club opened the score. After the 1-2 win in the Europa League, he appeared in front of the camera with a big smile ESPN. In addition to the duel with PSV, the striker also spoke about his reserve role with the Dutch Juniors.

The match was over fifteen minutes old when Boadu was sent into the depths. He escaped his opponent Armando Obispo and scored the 0-1 behind Joël Drommel. “I always score in the top players, I think,” said Boadu, who, as an AZ striker, has scored seven times in matches against the traditional top three in the past two seasons. “PSV is a very good opponent, but I think I have already scored three times against them. I’m just glad I scored today, it’s just a coincidence that it’s against PSV.”

Boadu missed two great opportunities in the remainder of the match. Monaco coach Niko Kovac thinks it is more important that the purchase of seventeen million euros came into scoring position. “The way he did that is the reason we brought him to Monaco. Things are going in the right direction for him. It makes sense that you need time to get used to a new club and a new country. At AS Monaco, he gets that time,” the coach was quoted after the game as saying The Telegraph.

Boadu is having a hard time at his new club. He is not sure of a permanent starting place and only signed his first goal on behalf of Monaco on Thursday. In the past international period, he also lost his base place with the Dutch Juniors. Trainer Erwin van de Looi even kept him on the bench for ninety minutes against Young Wales due to a lack of effort. “I don’t read all the criticism I get, but that from the Dutch Juniors, of course, came through,” said Boadu. “That’s not nice to hear of course, not everything is true, but I’m trying to let it slide and focus on football.”
