Jurriën Timber has appeared on Bayern Munich’s radar, the German reports Sports1. The 21-year-old defender of Ajax applies the record master as a possible alternative to Benjamin Pavard, who has still not renewed his contract at the Allianz Arena. Bayern hopes to keep the Frenchman longer, but will proceed with the sale if no agreement is reached.

Pavard still has a contract with Bayern until mid-2025. However, negotiations about a new commitment are not progressing smoothly. Pini Zahavi, the defender’s agent, also represents the interests of Robert Lewandowski and David Alaba. He accompanied the pair to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively in the past two seasons, after contract negotiations with Bayern failed. Pavard has no complaints about interest. Barcelona and Internazionale, among others, keep an eye on his contract situation.

If Pavard leaves Bayern after this season, Timber will be considered ‘Plan B’. The the Dutch-international could also count on interest from Bavaria last summer. At the time, Manchester United was also in the market for the Ajax defender, who signed a new contract in August until mid-2025.

“Last summer there was interest, but I made the choice to stay with Ajax,” Timber recently said Ajax Life. “Next summer I will look again at the options and make a choice. I am in a good position at Ajax, that is the most important thing for now.” At Bayern, Matthijs de Ligt, Daley Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Daley Blind are currently four players with a past at Ajax.
