Bayern Munich became German champion for the ninth time in a row without playing on Saturday. Der Rekordmeister saw competitor RB Leipzig go down in a titanic battle with Borussia Dortmund (3-2) and can therefore no longer be traced. BVB is doing extremely well in the battle for a Champions League ticket and climbs to fourth place, although Eintracht Frankfurt can take over that place again on Sunday. Number three VfL Wolfsburg made no mistake by winning 1. FC Ünion Berlin (3-0) and is also on track for the coveted ticket.

Borussia Dortmund 3-2 RB Leipzig
Erling Braut Haaland was unable to participate in the top match between Dortmund and Leipzig due to an injury. Hee-Chan Hwang could have given the visitors the lead in the third minute after he dealt with Mats Hummels, but shot goalkeeper Marwin Hitz from eleven meters. A nice team attack led to Dortmund’s opening goal four minutes later. Thorgan Hazard cleverly tapped the ball to the right flank, allowing Marco Reus to dribble into the penalty area. The attacker shot the ball in from close range: 1-0. Dortmund was stronger in the remainder of the first half, without forcing any big chances.

Six minutes after half time it doubled BVB his lead. Jadon Sancho was released on the left side of the penalty area and was given a lot of room to cut inside and calmly find the far corner: 2-0. A corner by Emil Forsberg, headed in by Lukas Klostermann, brought Leipzig back into the game in the 63rd minute: 2-1. Substitute Justin Kluivert then crossed on Dani Olmo, who hit the side net. The Croat was able to score the equalizer moments later, after Hwang had avoided a tackle from Mats Hummels and was able to cross freely: 2-2. A brilliant combination between Jadon Sancho and Raphaël Guerreiro still gave Dortmund the win. Sancho put the ball with the heel ready for Guerreiro, who put it back to the English attacker: 3-2.

VfL Wolfsburg – 1. FC Ünion Berlin 3-0
Wolfsburg took the lead in the twelfth minute. Bote Baku put the ball back low from the right flank to the edge of the penalty area, where Josip Brekalo shot the ball beautifully into the intersection: 1-0. The goal was attributed by the Wolfsburg players to Bartosz Bialek, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury this week. Moments later, Maximilian Philipp was given plenty of time to double the lead, but was unable to get the ball past Andreas Luthe from close range. With some fortune, Wolfsburg closed the game in the 63rd minute. Brekalo saw his shot shoot up through the block of Ünion Berlin, leaving Luthe without a chance: 2-0. Brekalo completed his hat-trick in the ninetieth minute, by shooting in two instances from a cross from Baku: 3-0.

TSG Hoffenheim – Schalke 04 4-2
With the debut of Florian Flick, the 37th player of the season kicked off at Schalke, setting a new Bundesliga record. Never before has a club used so many players in one season. The visitors started the game energetically and took the lead after a rejected goal by Hoffenheim after fifteen minutes of play, when Mark Uth took full advantage of bad defending with the home team. The striker hit in the right corner: 0-1. On the stroke of half time, the score was even doubled by the relegant, when Shkodran Mustafi reacted most thoughtfully to a corner kick from Bastian Oczipka and scored for the 0-2. In the second half, Hoffenheim quickly put things in order and the roles were reversed.

After two minutes of play in the second company, Andrej Kramaric signed brilliantly for the connecting goal by placing a free kick in the top left corner. When Kevin Akpoguma outsmarted Klaas-Jan Huntelaar four minutes later in an air duel, the score was already tied: 2-2. Hoffenheim clearly had a different tune after the break and finally turned the gap after an hour of play. Kramaric signed for his second assist by putting the ball on the head of Felix Baumgartner, who crawled in front of Huntelaar and found the right corner: 3-2. The team of trainer Sebastian Hoeness then pressed on unabated and ensured the final agreement through Ihlas Bebou. The attacker finished calmly on a pass from Florian Grillitsch: 4-2. Melayro Bogarde stayed on the bench at Hoffenheim the entire game.

Werder Bremen 0-0 Bayer Leverkusen
While Werder Bremen must do everything possible to avoid relegation to the 2. Bundesliga, Bayer Leverkussen needs a miracle to secure direct placement for the Europa League group stage. The number six seemed to take the lead via Daley Sinkgraven after more than half an hour of play. The fullback rounded off from close range for the 0-1, but was whistled back by the assistant referee and the VAR for offside. The moments of excitement were very rare in the Weser Stadium. Davie Selke was close to the opening goal on behalf of Bremen, but he saw his shot land a meter past the left post shortly after the break. Both teams handed out a few pinpricks in the final phase on the hunt for victory, but this did not lead to very big chances. Bremen ended the game with ten men, after Eren Dinkci went way too hard on Nadiem Amiri in injury time and immediately saw red.
