Bayern Munich has reached an agreement with Omar Richards on a four-year commitment, he assures Sky Sports Monday. The 23-year-old left wing defender has an expiring contract at Reading and is therefore transfer-free to Germany on 1 July. Richards is the second summer reinforcement of Bayern, which previously paid 42.5 million euros to steal Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig.

The agreement between Bayern and Richards did not come out of the blue, since The Athletic already reported in January about the interest of the German superpower in the left back. According to Sky Sports The agreement was preceded by three months of negotiation. Richards has undergone the necessary medical examination in the United Kingdom as he is currently not allowed to go to Germany due to travel restrictions.

The expectation of Sky Sports is that Richards is initially attracted by Bayern for the width. The renowned English medium writes that the Englishman can act as a backup for the permanent left back Alphonso Davies. For that trainer Hansi Flick also has Lucas Hernández, who can also play as a center-back. As a result, Richards’ chances of playing in the first team seem minimal in advance. Previously reported Sky Sports Incidentally, Max Aarons from Norwich City was also in the picture at Bayern. The asking price of the Norwich City left back would be between 35 and 40 million euros.

Richards is a 1.85 meter left-back who broke through from the youth academy at Reading. The Briton broke through in 2017 at the current number five of the Championship and is in his second season as a regular base player. Richards has a total of 92 official appearances for Reading, scoring three goals. He also played once for the England Under-21.
