Bayern Munich has fired general manager Oliver Kahn and technical director Hasan Salihamidžic. This is reported by various German media. The news follows shortly after Bayern has secured the German national title. That did the record master because it won 1-2 at 1. FC Köln and competitor Borussia Dortmund did not get further than 2-2 at home against FSV Mainz 05.

“Oliver Kahn has been sacked as general manager of Bayern Munich shortly after the title was won,” Fabrizio Romano tweeted. “Kahn was no longer present during Bayern’s final championship match against FC Köln.” Romano reports, like other media, that Jan-Christian Dreesen will be the successor to the former goalkeeper. Dreesen was Bayern’s financial director until this point.

Other media, including Kicker also mention the departure of Salihamidžic. The dismissal of both board members cannot be seen separately from the fact that Bayern almost missed out on the national title. The fact that the title was finally taken does not seem to matter anymore for Kahn and Salihamidžic.
