Ajax hopes to welcome Jorge Sánchez to the Netherlands soon. The Amsterdammers have made their interest in the Mexican concrete, reports The Telegraph Wednesday morning. Technical manager Gerry Hamstra and right-hand man Klaas-Jan Huntelaar have made the defender a top priority.

Negotiations with Sánchez’ employer Club América are now in full swing. Ajax hopes to get clarity in the coming days whether a transfer is actually possible. Sanchez should compete with Devyne Rensch, who has not yet been able to match the level of his debut season.

Sean Klaiber is also allowed to leave Ajax, who is reportedly in the interest of his old club FC Utrecht. Sánchez could become the second Mexican in the club’s club history, after Edson Álvarez was the first to make the crossing to the Dutch capital. The right back already has 31 international matches to his name and would like to ensure a place in the World Cup selection of Mexico at Ajax.

Sanchez impressed during the preparation against Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, although those clubs are not concrete. He has made 150 appearances for Club América to date, scoring twice and providing eight assists. In an emergency, the Torreón-born defender could also act as a left-back, having already held that position 52 times.
