Mohamed Daramy is playing on a rental basis for FC Copenhagen this season, Ajax announced in an official press release. The Dane came over from the same club last summer and is now returning on a temporary basis due to his diminished prospects of playing time. The rental contract in Copenhagen is for one season.

The Danish BT Sport already announced the upcoming rental deal on Monday. Daramy arrived in Amsterdam with a lot of fanfare last summer, partly because of its price tag of twelve million euros. However, the twenty-year-old winger only got to play little by little under Erik ten Hag, and in the minutes he got he didn’t leave an indelible impression. Throughout the season, Daramy had to give way to Dusan Tadic on the left wing, while on the other side he had to put up with Antony and Steven Berghuis.

The prospect of playing time for this vintage isn’t much better. Ajax even won two extra competitors with Steven Bergwijn and Francisco Conceicao, while Antony seems to remain in Amsterdam despite countless transfer perils. To this end, Daramy has decided, in consultation with Ajax, to temporarily leave. In Copenhagen, the four-time Danish international is very popular with the public. Daramy joined the club’s youth academy in 2017 and broke through into the main squad a few years later. After 93 official games, 18 goals and 10 assists, he became the most expensive outgoing transfer for Copenhagen of all time (along with Jonas Wind, who signed to VfL Wolfsburg for twelve million euros in the same transfer window).

Daramy played sixteen official matches for Ajax’s main squad last season, in which he scored three goals and three assists. In addition, the Dane with Sierra Leonean roots played nine times for Jong Ajax in the Kitchen Champion Division. He was accurate only once for the selection of John Heitinga. Daramy still has a contract in the Johan Cruijff ArenA until mid-2026.
